About the Blue Mountains

What is special about the Blue Mountains?

Blue Mountains cliffs with valleys from a lookout overlooking green valleys with a blue sky dotted with white couds

The Blue Mountains are named for the blue haze created by eucalyptus trees, which release oil droplets that scatter sunlight, giving the region its distinctive blue hue.

On our Blue Mountains day tour, you’ll see this effect in all its glory as we explore the region’s most iconic lookouts.

What is the best time of year to visit the Blue Mountains?

The Blue Mountains is a year-round destination, with each season offering something unique. Spring and autumn are particularly popular for their mild weather and stunning landscapes.

On our small group Blue Mountain tours, we tailor the experience to the season, ensuring you get the best views, the most vibrant colours, and the freshest air, no matter when you visit.

How far are the Blue Mountains from Sydney?

The Blue Mountains are approximately 90 minutes to 2 hours’ drive from Sydney, depending on traffic and your starting point in the city.

On our tour, it generally takes us about 1 hour and 45 minutes to reach the first stop on our itinerary. But don’t worry, you won’t be just watching traffic! Our expert guide will keep you entertained with fascinating stories about Sydney’s history, the flora and fauna of the Blue Mountains, and interesting facts about the region. You’ll arrive at the Blue Mountains already immersed in its wonders.

Are there any entry fees to the Blue Mountains National Park?

There is no general entry fee to the Blue Mountains National Park, which allows us to explore its vast natural beauty freely. However, some attractions within the park, such as Scenic World, do have admission fees.

On our Blue Mountain tours, these fees are included in the package, so you can focus on enjoying the experience without any extra hassle.

What should I wear when visiting the Blue Mountains?

We recommend dressing in layers and wearing comfortable walking shoes, as the weather in the Blue Mountains can vary throughout the day. Our tours often involve short walks to lookout points, so you’ll want to be prepared for a bit of adventure. Don’t forget your camera—there are plenty of photo opportunities along the way!
